hi all, im puting a VCT in the old ED fairmont, the ED auto is stuffed, im lookin at a manual conversion but time is short, i have a perfect auto out of an AU 2 ute, are there any diffrences i was told the au box runs off the computer? is this a load of shiat just to try and sell me the manual conversion?

The Auto should be the same and will bolt in.

For your VCT conversion what ECU are you using to run the engine? My guess is an EL ECU and a RPM switch to trigger the VCT?

the au box does run off the ecu computer, and so does the ed box.
so it will work fine..
the only set back is the au box dont have a dip stick, so it will need to be filled from the bolt on the drivers side of the box...

yeah i noticed that, its a pita!

As for the ecu, i have not looked that far ahead yet, still striping the old girl out with what little time i have, was reading your build and its given me alot of ideas! :twisted: but yeah most likely the EL, i would love to make the AU VCT ecu work, but thats a whole loom job so yeah!
the whole electronic stuff is new to me! im still living in the early 80's with my zook and hilux lol
