mine does the exact same thing in my ea 6 and ed 8. its with the power switch. if u leave it in economy it wont do it but in power slowing down for speed humps and accelerating while driving fast will make it clunk.

does it just clunk?? or change really quickly???
try keeping it in 3rd, some btr's seem to do it when letting of the accelerator and it jumps into overdrive making a clunky noise sounding like its coming from the diff

just been driving again it only does it under hard acceleration, its like its changing too quick and cant handle it. wats a shift kit worth for one of these not the $10 wiring job either

eg, stronger bands, or shift solenoids

my bet is the s5 solonoid is on its way out. a shift kit only makes shifts quicker, i doubt itl help, might make it worse. i always hear that noise cumming from e-series with shift kits, either way you can buy them from about $80 from www.shiftkits.com.au.
did you try leaving it in 3 while giving the car a thrashing????
because really all it is doing is up gearing to overdrive when you let off the gas
