A little search goes a long way....
My EBII has the following gear from an EF Fairmont: - Engine - Diff - Full wiring loom - All electrics including windows, climate etc - All interior And many other things. Anything is possible, i even have BA headlights. The link in my sig, along with many boxcars in the garage have much info. Andrew.

Are you asking what parts from an ED, can be put in to an EL? Which I think is odd, as that is putting old parts in to a newer car. It is just that is how your question reads.
If you intention was to ask about using EL parts in an ED then refer to Pimps post, and my sig threads for info. BenJ

I have an EB with ED xr6 running gear and will be looking at purchasing an EF today that has a blown head gasket, the EB also has ED ghia leather seats.
I was thinking of maybe using the seats, auto (if necessary) and the 3.45 ratio lsd plus the near new lowered suspension into the ef. PIMP_ LTD I read some of your thread last night and have to say I admire your work.

Seat mounts are different in the EF so you will need to modify the seat rails for the ED seats to go in.
Diff centre should be OK but the whole diff is a different story due to the different brakes/handbrake on the EL. You would probably be better off sourcing another EF diff and doing the cnetre swap or finding an EL LSD to go in. The auto should go in OK, you would at least have a dipstick then Cheers RD

Yep as RD said re seats. Not a straight bolt in proposition.
Re the Diff, it is possible to use the ED diff, but there is a lot of work involved. You would have to cut the hand brake bracketry off the EF diff and weld in on the ED diff, then pull the axles and use the EF backing plates, calipers, rotors, and axles in the ED housing. For the engine, you should be physically be able to put the ED XR engine in, but use the BBM manifold, and EF Coil pack to run it. There may be an issue re putting an older engine into a newer car with the rego authorities, but only if they find out. The suspension will go straight in with no issues. Good luck with it all. BenJ

also if your putting a ed engine into an ef you need to swap the timing case cover over as ef has coil pack and the ed timing cover dont have the provision for the crank angle sensor.

OK I dont think I will bother using any of the ED stuff except maybe the suspension, I bought the EF GLI today it is Navy Blue and is in need of some tlc but isnt to bad.
As I posted previously the head gasket needs replacing it has 170k's, the guy I bought in from bought it as is and doesnt know why or how it shat itself, anyway what would be the best course of action 1. get another motor. 2. take the head off get it checked and if ok refitted with new gasket. thanks for your replies.
