Hey all, see if anyone can help me with this one...

For no apparent reason the ABS light came on one day. As i have had this problem before and i just ignored it and it went away, i did the same again until today about 5 mins into driving the car i tried to pull up at an intersection and the pedal was stiff!!!, i pushed hard with both feet and the car just kept rolling!!!!

After about 5 sec, the pedal went soft and i came to a very abrupt stop. i believe the modulator had kicked in for and was back pressuring for some reason. felt like when abs kicks in and the pedal pushes back a little, the i couldn't move it at all, it was pushed all the way out...

This happened twice in the day but after it happened, it just drove normally, both times within say - 5 mins of starting the engine. But this happenes intermittently - Got me stuffed!!!

First thing to do would be to get your car up in the air, safely of course!
Then go round each wheel sensor, carefully remove it from its mount and clean the whole thing, and reassemble.
You will find that a lot of crap builds up on the sensors (some of it being iron based particles from brakes and or pads), which can trick the abs into thinking there is a fault.

when my abs light stayed on i took it to a mechanic to plug it into the diagnostic computer to see which fault codes came up. mine ended up being the ECU which is apperantly common on these models. also when the ABS light is on the ABS is disabled and your brakes should still function as normal.
