And now there's 3!
Had the trusty family EB wagon off the road for a new head and when I fired the beast up for the 1st time the ABS light initially lit up and then went out as normal but now comes on after 5-10mins even if just sitting idling. And the purge pump doesn't do its test run either. I've checked the relays and fuse link etc but I need more info......

Hey Stang I can't seem to find one that cheap. Mate, reckon you could find me one for $30 and send it over - I'll pay for postage and everything

The abs system HAS to checked with a proper tester otherwise you cannot get the codes and it cannot be properly reset

Does anyone with an ED have ABS that works??

If you guys sort it out - let me know what the go is...

my XR has the ABS light turn on straight away, and never goes out. Its not the ABS computer as I have already replaced it.

my Fairmont has the ABS light come on after I start moving.

Hey guys,

Same thing here, "CHECK ABS" has been on since purchase, the fluid was like sewerage so family member rebuilt all calipers and we flushed the system. I tried putting her into DIAG mode but nothing happens.
I jump the "ABS GND" and "ABS STI" together with a spaded female, sometimes lights will just go off, but will come on after I move the car about 1 metre. How the hell can I slip this thing into DIAG mode?
Does anyone know what causes this yet?

I think that if you can't get it into diagnostic mode it means you have a rooted computer.

I keep on trying to get my abs to behave - haven't succeeded yet but inventing new words along the way!

To trusty wagon to local purveyors of fine ford products - they plugged into abs computer and proclaimed a wheel sensor to be faulty. I took it home and rechecked wiring etc. as per info obtained from this site. All 4 wheel sensors 2.5kOhm + signal received when wheels rotated. Retested operation of system relay. 12V getting onto back of pump relay (OK). Can jump relay and get pump to fire. Tested circuits at abs ecu pump. Can't get ecu into diagnostics mode.
Has anyone actually managed to do this by shorting the 2 pins?
Maybe we are all trying the wrong pins?
Which of the 2 pins is the ST pin and which is the earth?
What should the colour coding of the wires to the pins be so I can double check?
Would there be a circuit diagram for the actual ecu floating around out there now that the technology is no long cutting edge?

Got abs to work!
Replaced ECU ($125 from wreckers) - plugged it in and away we go!
While I was at the wreckers another punter rang looking for the same thing so it must be a common problem.
Ford mechanic I spoke to said he unplugs his ECU before he disconnects the battery or jump-starts his eb because of the known problems.
So There You Go!
