i just bought an ed fairmont on the weekend, and noticed the steering shaft through the firewall has collapsed.
it's the bearing/bush that runs between the shaft and firewall that has failed. what is involved in replacing this, and what is the going price for the part/s?

dude doesnt take much to replace the whoel steering column at all just find a wreck. its a easy job to change over from memory i just took the one out of my el sapphire wreck

Nope.. no way. Not without alot of pain, switching and swapping, oh and of course you'd be stuck with an EF/EL combo and wheel (incl airbag). 
We encountered this when putting a full EL interior into an EB

i got a new shaft, i just had to swap my barrel over by getting a punch and hitting the corner of the round studs.
