any one at all got any ideas?
I have just been driving it and manually selecting the gears and it appears that it is sticking in second (limp mode... I think) the fluid deff needs a top up but it is brown and sorta smells burnt. So i am tipping the auto is on its way out what why would it be in limp mode? Cheer. |

Check your electrical connections, clean them if necessary and run a diagnostic on the auto. Will shed some light on the problem

yeah, well it seems to be. the cluster was changed out a while ago so i might see about trying a new one and see if that helps. but what my mate and his old man (the one i got it from) are tell me that the think it is a broken wire behind dash.

"yeah, well it seems to be" ??
Does this mean it's not working perfectly? ie flickering or jumping about? If so it could be a dash wiring [or pin] problem but usually it's the speedo sender unit on the top RHS of the gearbox playing up. This has 3 wires leading to a socket on the passenger side of the gearbox, easy to find as they're the only wires that run over the box. I just replaced my EB2 one with an EL one from the wreckers, $5 and limp mode all gone. Cheers, Mac

just out of insomnia and curiosity i took it for a quick spin around the block, And when the speedo get to 50km and above the needle appears to flicker just a little bit. could be the road could be the sender. i pray to God, Jesus, Opera, Allah and what ever god that is out there that it is the sender.
Cheers for that Paulmac. |

It is simple yet awkward to replace, just an 8mm bolt holds it in. I find it difficult to get my hands to it without lowering the rear mount but my wife replaced the last one with no real difficulty at all.
Cheers, Mac

RHS=Drivers Side and yes. The gears could be different because that depends on your diff ratio and wheel size.
If they're different colours and your current one is not stripped just swap them over [c clip] Cheers, Mac

is this the thing your talking about?
i only had a very quick look but this was on the LHS changed it and the auto is still f**k up. took it to an auto place today and they said no error codes are coming up so they said they are 99% sure the cluch backing is burntout. think they are right? Cheers. |

No,
It's on the other side of the gearbox. Follow the only wires that cross the gearbox from left to right, near the rear box mount but up high. It's shown in any workshop manual. Cheers, Mac
