Hi Guys i can source a XR6 Manual complete car basacally (minus front lights and interior removed) for 500 dollars will the xr6 box fit stright upto to the 3.9 block.

i really asking "Do i have to f**k around getting more parts etc for this to fit" I assume that i will bolt up in a weekend and i will have a manual on monday.... another thing would be the ecu i can't use the xr6 one cause of the litrage and smartlock so yeah...... can i do the resistor trick or doesn't matter cause it doesn't control the auto box like the ef/el models....

I would change the whole driveline over if I was you and you have the know how. It will make a huge difference to the car.

Well if it is anything like 67RICE's aka brett's ed xr6, then it would most definitely make a difference to your acceleration etc... his does a 15 second flat quarter mile time at willowbank so yeah nice and quick.
what have you got at the moment as the recipient car? aut0 3.9?

Well I converted my ef auto 6 to a manual... that was interesting. it was expensive as i had to buy new clutch, and new parts here and there. but in your case its kind of a better option since you are having transmission problems.
i would use all the xr6 gear - pump etc.. like without the stuff it will work but not properly.
xr6's had more power anyway so its a good start too :)
ed xr6's have more power than a stock ef gli has!

""if the motor is any good why not just drop everything in, motor trans and diff???"""

Iam thinking about this but will the 3.9 ecu run the enigne to some what near it's orginal potential i assume a few kws would drop cause the ecu still thinks it is a 3.9 i don't really what to change ecu then i would have to f**k around with the smart lock system and in all honesty couldn't be f**k....

the xr6 speedo reads 250 ish thou and my eb did read 188 ish kms (the speedo stopped clicking over)

well you can run the motor on all your original gear if this stuff is from an eb xr6, and you have an eb, the ecu is a strait swap no wire mods needed. would be a full weekends work to do the motor/trans and diff, but if you get an engine crane you can VERY easily do both motor and trans in one hit, much easier to fit a gearbox to a motor when it out of the car.

i vote go the whole hog.

the xr6 is a 93 model so i thought the ecu and smartlock was in the same system as it were like the ecu would be useless unless the smartlock modules says ""yeah all good""

dunno man, but your ecu will run the xr gear. you could even just use your fuel rail and ancillaries and just swap the physical engine/box over. but I am unsure as to how the ebs will run with the auto computer running the manual. Correct me if I am wrong, but isnt the eb series 1 gearbox computer seperate to the engine management computer with a link between the two or something along those lines.
