I have an EF Falcon with 4 speed auto. Cant afford a service at the moment and oil is black & very thin. Thought I would at least change the fluid for now.
Where and how do you drain the transmission fluid. Manual says to remove drain plug but no pics. Now I know I must be stupid  but I just cant find it!

Remove trans pan and drain, buy a service kit only around $30 for filter and seal, make sure you use the proper fluid for EF's 95LE and clean the s**t off the magnet that should be in the pan

and hows that going to help him drain the fluid from the trans, when the fluid sits in the pan?

OK well drain plug should get a fair bit of fluid out - there's about 4L in the box and 6L in the converter IIRC. But yeah - just remove the pan (and get out of the way).

Trans oil should be BRT95LE. Take your pick of brands.

Check your owner's manual - it will let you know how much oil to put in the gearbox. EFs were the last to have a dipstick.

EL's and NL's had a plug underneath - I service my auto annually, due to stop/starting traffic.

This is how I'm going to do mine.... in a while. Not now.

Replace oil filer and top up oil (so that pump doesn't run dry.... just in case). Disconnect output from oil cooler. Screw hose into oil cooler and put in bucket. Put the hose going to the trans onto a bucket of clean oil. Run engine till oil runs clean from the oil cooler. Reconnect everything.

Full oil flush and non of the nonsense cost.
