Hello,
I am wondering if it is uncommon for an EF brake booster to fail??
I appear to have lost all vaccuum assist, even though the booster hose and oneway valve appear to be functional. I also have a loud hissing and the engine rev's increase with the pedal depressed.

I havent really heard of this before on the EFs, and ive seen some with alot more k's than mine (211,000)

Cheers
David

Not a common problem, but the diaphragms can 7 do fail. The symptoms are usually as you descibe. Not a hard job to replace the whole vacuum assist assembly and it gives you the perfect opportunity to flush your brake system completely. Wrecking yards charge varying prices, so phone around if buying second hand.
Good luck
