Just wondering if anyone would know if an EF diff would fit into an Eb??????

I put an EF I think diff in my ED...
Detailed in my build thread... I means pulling the axles, replacing the backing plates with your EB ones... Removing the handbrake gear of the EF diff and attaching your brake lines to it... You may need to run your EB axles as they had shorter wheel studs and I've found closed ended nuts can bottom out on EF/EL studs... Depending on your pinion angle you may need XR upper arms to accomodate it... Cheers, Tim

Thanks Tim. Will be sure to check out your build thread. There is a god awful noise coming from the rear end as well as a bit of a driveline vibration. A fair old diff clunk when either Drive or revese is selected. EF write off aquired for a box of beer with a front end hit so cheap diff if we can make it fit.

Yeah... Not too hard... Three steel tabs hold the brake lines on the ED diff... I just unfolded them, made three the same and welded them to the EF diff... The ED breather holds the brake line tee in place... The EF breather is in a different spot so I welded a bolt to the diff to hold the tee piece... You'll need a slide hammer or equivalent to pull the axles... Then you can change the backing plates from EF to ED... Use the ED axles, fit the calipers and discs... And that's pretty well it...
Only thing I have discovered from personal endeavours is usually the axle seals leak once re-installed... So I had to replace both mine... Involves cutting the retainer off and pressing the bearing off... removing old seal, installing the new one and pressing a new bearing and retainer on... Cheers, Tim
