Im guessing you would need an electronic speedo corrector of some sort from the likes of Jaycar or Shiftkits.com.au. There isnt any speedo gear that will suit 3.7 gears, ford only went up to 3.45 unfortunately. |

I know the Ssangyong Musso has 4.88's and large wheels, with a T5, im sure the speedo drive might be a valuable find?

{USERNAME} wrote: If you ever need to change the gearbox drive gear, i.e. the one that slips over the g/box output shaft (not the speed sensor one) - make sure you get the one intended for the g/box. Although the BTR auto and T5 manuals have the same amount of teeth, the output shaft diameters are different, and an auto one is a loose fit on a T5 output shaft, and the T5 one is a very tight fit on an auto output shaft. FMX & C4/5/6/10 autos have opposite teeth direction on the speedo driven gears compared to BW/BTR/Ion g'boxes.

Only way is to get a ratio box thing.
Changes the signal or something to correct your speedo. I have a VDO one. Was about $300 fitted.

Don't think so.
Buy yourself a workshop manual. The procedure is covered in there. BenJ

{USERNAME} wrote: its not in my gregory,s ef work shop manual the only gear u need to change is the green gear from your speedo sender unit and refit the black gear, think it has an 8mm headed bolt holding it to the side of the gearbox, usually has red cover over the wiring benj may know for sure but u already have a police cluster so it may not need it done. |

OK.
To change it in the car is a PITA! You need to get a jack and put it under the back of the transmission. Then undo the two bolts holding the transmission crossmember to the car, then lower the jack down as far as possible. The Speedo Sender is located on the top right of the BTR. It is held in by an 8mm? might be 10mm bold with a long shaft. You have to do most of this by feel, but when the bolt is out, you can then remove the speedo sender unit. The gear is held on to the sender unit with a circlip, which you need to remove to swap out the gear. Then put it all back together again. Have fun. BenJ

i changed mine the other week when i went from 3.08 diff to 3.23, no need to touch the crossmember, my sender came out easy, took ten mins all up including jacking it up and putting an axle stand under the chassis, changing it over and then packing up

I drove the Passenger Side of the Car up on a gutter and slid under to change the speedo gear - yes its a PITA but was do-able - who needs jacks and jack stands lol

um just wondering, I recently changed my car to a manual. It has the 3.08 diff in it with the standard wheels. But i noticed in the list, there is not this one mentioned. My speedo is out of calibration and ranges from from being 1k out (at low speeds) to being about 6k out at 100. What do i need to change to fix this?
Thanks
