A Police Cluster and a few driven gears should fix you up also.
I have a few clusters avaliable.

But as the speed difference varies with speed, how would a police cluster work? I have a feeling that this box came out of a EA. Would this effect things?

the box wont make a difference, but if it still has the ea speedo gear it will be a 19 tooth for 2.92..

Get the gear from your old auto and put it in the T5.

Hi Guys.
I've have bought a diff head from a 1995 XR6 sedan, but I need a gear from the end of a XR6 speedo cable to make it all work right. This topic here is interesting but, for me, a little confusing - old age creeping up I guess because I can’t filter out what information I need to suit my project. What I have: 1996 Ford EF2 Futura S/W with what ever diff it came out with from the factory, but soon to be replaced with a: 1995 XR6 diff centre 3:45 - a black tag screwed on with the diff oil filler plug reads: "LSD High Performance....." Pursuit/Police instrument cluster - ex Falcon Police Car fitted to the EF2 S/W. I asked a local Ford dismantler by e-mail if they had a gear wheel at the end of the speedo drive to suit a EF/EF2 XR6. Their answer was: "color of plastic wheel are color coded or how many teeth"? It looks like there could be two cogs needed as per the chart here on this post - like this. Diff ---- Trans -- Rim -- Drive Gear --- Teeth -- Color --- Driven Gear -- Teeth – Color 3.45 -- 4 Auto --- 15" - XA-17285-C --- 8LH -- Yellow -- XE-17271-E -- 22 LH – Grey Can anybody here give me the information I need based on the information I have provided? Cheers, Bruce. |

G'day people,
I recently had my auto transmission box installed. I have an AUII, year 2000. The gearbox I'm using is from a 2001 Fairlane sedan (BTR 93LE 4 speed Automatic Transmission), this has affected my speedo reading...that is to say on my GPS at readings of 60, 80 and 100kph, correlates on my car's speedo the needle sits at 55, 75 and 95kph respectively, It's annoying. Does anyone know what colour Drive gear I need for the Speedo Sender? Any place I can purchase one from? I'm in Brisbane. I would like to avoid buying from Ford as they have a habit of charging too much. Cheers |

the colour and number of teeth depend on your current diff ratio, 3.08 diff ratio is brown 20 tooth, 3.23 ratio is green 21 tooth...
you can get one from a wrecker or from ford |

Regards, Bruce. there are 2 gears for 3.45 ratio, the std one is grey 22 teeth, and for cars fitted with 50 series 16"wheels got the black 23 tooth gear.. there is a link to the speedo calculator i posted a few posts back, that has the different gears for different ratios |

Thank you for that - heaps of data there - a lot to absorb.
Can I just pass this by you very briefly to see if I'm on the right track? The 3.45:1 LSD head I have is right out of a 1995 XR6 - if I can buy the driven wheel cog out of that cars auto box then that should do the trick – this would be the grey one because I have 15” road wheels? However, my EFII wagon has a cop instrument cluster in place of the standard ex-factory part and from reading all the preceding posts it would seem that all I need to do is re-calibrate this after fitting the 3.45 diff head – is that right? Thanks for your help. |

Troyman,
Thanks for that info. As far as I am aware of I have a stock standard diff. Would the info I'm seeking as in gear ratio be stamped on the case? I have 16" Wheels. Tyres are 215/60R16 Cheers |
