Yes they will, but an ECU scan wont diagnose a misbehaving solenoid, thats experience and logical deduction. It will only find fault if the solenoid is open circuit or shorted to 12v.

I had a car once that 50% of the time thumped shifts. An ECU scan said was fine, no errors but transmission place diagnosed as an S5. So got a new transmission, and the problems continued. Turns out 3 teeth were missing from the speedo cog which was causing the problem.

Another one thumped shifts, particularly on downshifts when slowing down. ECU scan said everything was fine. Transmission joint said S5 or diff. Turned out to be a sticky TPS not releasing to idle voltage when the throttle was closed.
