Hey guys, got a question for you regarding my XR's clutch.
I've been starting to notice it's getting hard to get the gearbox into gear, I have to really bury the clutch pedal into the carpet and force the gear lever into gear. I tried adjusting the nut on the firewall side shown below, but it seems to be fully adjusted. I also find the clutch pedal to be quite heavy and was wondering if that was normal for these cars. Cheers

Replace your clutch before you bugger up the firewall and pedal box.
If the clutch cable is original, replace it too.

Noob moment, there's still heaps of thread for that nut against the firewall, adjusted and all is well. I am aware there is now more pressure on the firewall and possibly have an worn/frayed cable. Taking it to my mechanic next week for some other stuff so I'll get him to reinforce the firewall etc...

That isn't point....reinforcing the firewall.....If the pedal feels different to before ( more pressure required ), then you are at the point of where the friction plate is too thin now, and you have to over compensate with the pressure plate movement.
It ain't good. Replacing the clutch is cheaper than fixing pedal boxes and reinforcing firewalls.
