Just wondering if the T5s are all identical builds throughout the E-Series range? I recent in a recent post that the EAs and EB1s had a shorter 1st gear, is this true? I'd be much better getting a EF XR6 manual rather than the EA/EB1 right?
Also, can anyone give me a rough idea of the cost to recondition a T5? Is there any parts that I can get reinforced? ( limited knowledge at present) Thanks guys! 'preicate any info!

reinforced, you can get straight cuts, they are expensive, bout 3k for 1st and 2nd for a rex, im guessing similar for the ford. i think the t5 is helical already....

its the way the gears are cut, and yes by that i mean strong enough if your not planning copious amounts of power.

straight cut are stronger but more brutal.
Plus I was generally under the impression the bigger problem was the housing flexing on t5's which cause more wear on internals... for more info on this do a search on "world class"...should bring up some useful threads

Seriously do people google "f**k up modifications for Fords owned by Jews" and get linked straight to this site nowadays? AU,factory fitted tickford kit/IRS, t5,Sports ryder/KYB: gone. |

maybe noisey and aggressive would be better suited.
I wouldn't spend the money on 'strenghtening' a t5, find a better box.

If you want stronger gears, don't go backwards to spur gears.
If you want to spec it up, run herringbone gears. Spur gears are loud, but sounds good. But only have a small amount of tooth contact. Helicals are quiet and stronger because they have a greater contact area. Produce plenty of side thrust though. Herringbone are best. Most amount of contact between gears, no side thrust. Failing this, get the box re cast and run dual or tri counter shafts. Eaton Fuller run duals and can handle upwards of 2200ft/lb of torque. |
