I put a brand new pedal box in my ef about 4 weeks ago, and just today the f*king thing broke. I noticed over the past couple of days the pedal started to get a bit of an angle to it, but just thought it was me being paranoid. This morning i went to move it up into my carport to put a new clutch cable in, pushed the clutch in and heard this *crack* noise. At first i thought it was the clutch cable breaking but the pedal was still firm. Stuck my head under the dash and sure enough, the weld broke on the pivot again. Im so f*kin p****d off , genune ford pedal box breaks after just a month. Now the dash has to come out again and i'll have to try and weld this one back together unless someone knows a better option?

reinforce it man
iv done mine 3 times in teh last month What caused it was teh clutch cable was frayed and was getting caught, resulting in more force to disengage clutch I know how you feel its a pain in teh a** job - im going to do mine tomorrow! Weld around the pin and if you can get some steel to reinforce it you should be set!

yea that is wot i was thinking of doing, but i need a new clutch pedal aswell because the top part of the pedal where the cable attaches is bent. So all the pressure is being put onto that little pin that retains the cable. And the last thing i wanna be doing on my weekends is pulling the dash out... again. It was actually the little pin that snapped this morning, dunno when that weld would have broken

yeah but replace cable or at least inspect it
it should freely slide quite easily

well i got all the dash out yesterday, repaired the pedal box and then put it back in. Then when i was attaching the cable to the pedal I noticed the cable sat at a strange angle, rubbing on the metal threaded bit that sits in the firewall. I checked to make sure i had the cable attached properly when i saw it... daylight... through the firewall. About 1cm above the cable, hidden behind the insulation the firewall has split. Its about 3cm long and curves around the top of the cable. .Has this happened to anyone else and how did you fix it? I was thinking of taking it to a panel shop to get it repaired and strengthened. Any suggestions?

Yea, some sort of heavy duty pedal box would be a great idea and a reinforcement for the firewall. I'm surprised someone hasnt already done it. Oh well, at least im getting plenty of practice at removing and refitting dashboards. I think im down to about 3hrs 40min

yeah unfortunatley this is a common problem. I broke mine, but that was due to the cable not been adjusted and putting too much force on it. Try using a clutch cable reinforcing plate that goes over the firewall where the clutch hole is. Its a piece of metal that is about 10 cm long and is about $12 - 15 bucks from ford.
