what is the plug at the end on some master cylinders not the other plug under the cylinder..

(pic attached)

is it for the ABS or cruise...

my EF fairmont has it....(has ABS & cruise)
on another EF2 fairmont it also had it..

but on another 3 EF GLis/futuras I saw that had ABS & cruise they didnt have it...

so it seems if its a cruise control switch its only on fairmonts and not on GLIs

It's for the cruise control, and all EF/EL/NF/NL/DF/DL vehicles fitted with factory cruise will have it. http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... ght=cruise
Also have a look at the doco: http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=11 .

its the cruise control de-activate Fail Safe switch. As normal de-actvation of the cruise is by the brake light switch.

How very odd. Seems it does both accodring to my manual. Apparently, it is the warning switch on ABS equiped cars. On non-abs ones the warning switch is the one located underneath. And i just checked my car, non-abs, it has the small one underneath, and this one, with wires leading directly to the cruise control thing, so yeah can safley conclude it's for the CC on my GLi.

EDIT: Yeah, i thought i'd mention, i'm mostly eating my words, seems i was somewhat wrong. So anyway, can someone with a real ford manual check this out, so we all know for sure. Mines is a s**t one so it could be wrong.

If you have any questions pertaining to fords I have ALL the genuine mqanuals from XP to EL and am happy to help at any time, being a retired auto engineer I enjoy helping the FM guys and am on here EVERY day for at least 5 hours  :D :D

yeah I saw the other post but it didnt seem to have a definate answer..

Yes it seems its part of the cruise system but that doesnt explain why it is missing from the EF GLI I have sitting here that has cruise installed....and also it was missing from another EF GLI that had cruise...

Maybe Ford added it to later models after all the brake light switch failures.
Or it could be the differance between Factory Fitted & Dealer Fitted.

You Hit the nail on the head it was added as a fail safe in case the brake light switch FAILED. :D
