Hi all,

Hoping to change my rear discs and pads on my EF over the easter weekend.

Couple of questions,
1)I have a gregories manual but for an EL, is the rear brake setup the same on EF & EL?
2)I dont have the book on hand at the moment its at home but I remember reading something it says to remove and discard the caliper bolts? Can't these be re-used?? I'll have to read it again when i get home.

Also is this a pretty simple job? I've been doing minor mechanical work my own for years but never bothered attempting the brakes before.
Thanks!

Hoping someone can put my mind at ease by saying the bolts are fine to re-use. :D
Also do you need to use loctite or anything on the bolts? From memory the manual doesnt mention this but I've seen it pop up a few places while searching the net. Never used loctite on anything before so I dont know

I don't see why the bolts can't be reused unless the thread on them is stuffed or something... I do not recall ever replacing caliper bolts/slide pins on any falcon when I worked at ford.

I did the rear brakes on my EL a few months back now and reused the bolts with no issues. However I do recommend taking the slide pins out of the calipers and relubricating them with slide pin grease.

Use Loctite threadlocker on all caliper bolts, and use a silicone grease on the slide pins.
Ordinary grease will stuff the rubber boots for the slides.
This is the stuff I use for the slides.... http://www.sherline.com/images/7550pic.jpg

Help! cant get the first rear rotor off! Rusted on badly! Soaking in wd40 as we speak.
Any ideas to help? Have just been bashing it with a hammer, left it for the night hoping it might budge in the morning. And these things definately only have the 1 screw holding them on right?
