Hi guys,

I need a new transmission for my car, I have found one from an EF in good nick. Will it go into my V8 ED?

The one I have found comes with the torque converter as well.

Cheers

Providing it is an EF V8 gearbox, yes.

I don't know, I guess my question would be then is the 4 speed auto used in the 6's different to the one in the 8's?

I thought they were the same box?

Yeah, I have been doing some research, found this:

Ford EA 11/EB 1988-93 Ford 4.0/3.9L BTR 85LE Automatic Transmission
Ford EB/EB11 1991-93 Ford 4.0L BTR 91LE Automatic Transmission
Ford EB/EB 11 1991-93 Ford 5.0L BTR 95LE Automatic Transmission
Ford ED 1993-94 Ford 4.0L BTR 91LE Automatic Transmission
Ford ED 5.0L 1993-94 Ford 5.0L BTR 95LE Automatic Transmission
Ford EF 1994-96 Ford 4.0L BTR 93LE Automatic Transmission
Ford EF 5.0L 1994-96 Ford 5.0L BTR 97LE Automatic Transmission

So can someone tell me what transmissions I can use? os it it as simple as I need to find another 95LE?

You can use any E Series V8 gear box as far as I know.

Great, so all I have to make sure of is that its one of the V8 transmissions.

Spose I should go for the 97LE as it would be the newest and youngest I would imagine.

On a simular note....

My EL V8 manual transmission is phucked, am I able to use any other e-series manual boxes to replace it? I have a box out of an EB S-pak, Im not fussed with gear ratio differences, just a box to get me going.

Will that work?

Must be a V8 box, the input shaft is a different length.

Okay, what about if I strip the 1st gear syncros out of the EB box to replace the ones in my EL box? Should that work? Or are the internals different as well?

Ratios are different, I'm not too sure on anything else to be honest with you.
