My EFII Futura S/W still has its factory front suspension. A wrecker has for sale parts from an EF XR6 and I’m thinking about replacing my wagons front suspension with the suspension from the XR6. There must be some road holding advantages with the XR6 and sometimes I hear talk of the XR6/8 having “tuned suspension”. So, what did Ford do to the XR6 front suspension to make it different from a regular Falcon – Nolathane bushes, beefed up sway bar, stiffer coils and shocks? Would the XR6 front suspension bolt right up to my Futura as a replacement or are there modifications needed?
Thanks. Bruce |

The Springs and Shocks/struts are different as the XR6 was lower than the standard suspension.
As to the rest, you won't get any advantage changing the rest. The GT had a different suspension but I couldn't see where it would be any better. Renewing the bushes in your suspension would help and adding a thicker sway bar but that's about it. |

Many thanks for your help with this. I know now what direction to take. Bruce. |

The factory XR stuff is also pretty old now and will be worn. Not worth bothering if you have to pay wrecker prices!
Aftermarket lower springs and good shocks will see good improvements. |
