I think you have both problems,
The shudder and gear selection sounds more like the switch to me,
The thump into gear is the solenoid,
Just replace the switch first, that's the cheapest option,
If you get a marked improvement but it still thumps from 1st to 2nd, change the solenoid,

The gear box was never seviced, Also when i sometimes accelerate the whole gearbox shakes and shudders too, then i let go and it dies off.

Ok is it hard to replace the switch?

As i will try that and see what happens

300,000+km and never serviced, no wonder the bloody thing is p****d off.

Have you checked the fluid level?

What colour is the oil?

Does it smell burnt?

Nah i never have checked it, woundn't be suprised if its black and burnt hahaha

So can i take the switch off and spray the inside of it without drilling a hole in the switch?

If oil level is low or the fluid is stuffed, stuffing with the inhibitor switch will solve nothing. Take the thing down and get it serviced.

OK, i was going to get it serviced and if its bad to get an second hand gearbox installed
