Hey guys have a problem with the Auto Trans in my EL Falcon,
It does this on LPG and Petrol so Im going to assume that it has nothing to do with the dual fuel.

To give you an example of the problem imagine your sitting on 100 km/h with cruse control on (or a steady throttle) then you floor the car to overtake (im from the country ok :D) What happens next is really strange. It does what i would have thought and changes down (to 2nd or 3rd), but first it kicks back with a fairly large jolt and feels as if its going to a low gear (1st or 2nd) at the same time the revs jump up. After this it feels as if its changing up a gear and it drops about 500 revs and i accelerate away smoothly.

Also when using the gear selector it holds fine in 1st and second. But 3rd gear it will want to change to 4th then realize that it shouldn't be there and changes back. This ends up giving the car a jolt and me noticing its in 3rd and not Drive. I should be able to keep it in 3rd around town where the speed limit is 50/60

Not sure if it has anything to do with it but the econ switch doesnt work, it lights up but doesnt change shifting habbits.

One last problem is that when slowing down, (say when i get to 10- 20km/h) I feel and hear a clunk. Possibly from the back of the car.

The car has been doing these since i bought it, has been seviced regularly and has has the auto trans serviced though that is due soon.

Any help would be much appreciated thanks guys.

Sounds like either:

- a low oil level, which would account for the jolt when switching and when flooring it from cruising and maybe the jolt when slowing down

- maybe a dud neutral switch sensor, which would account for the self shifting when holding it in 3rd and it jumping back to 4th

- a very much maybe, but a dud TPS sensor, which will have an effect on the shift quality if it thinks the throttle is in a different place than it actually is

The Gearbox was doing this before and after a service so i would have assumed that the mechanics would have filled it up properly. Being Trans Specialists, yet seem to think its a solenoid but cant test them  want to charge 850 to replace them all and they said oh that might fix it but.....

Not sure what this is?

Is this something that can be tested? I have had that mentioned before that it might have caused the problem.
