Hi all,

I had the option of a EL ghia front end the other day, and I thought they were the same as Xr's but thought I'd check with you guys first.

I was under the impression that the only non cosmetic differences between XR and Ghia was speed sensitive steering and the exhaust.. was I right?

Fairmont Ghias had the full XR running gear which I believe was suspension, head, cam and LSD

Cool.. I shouldn't grabbed it then.. will grab the next one instead.

was wondering because the XR ones are yellow monroe's (shockies) and these ghia ones were blue monroe's..

how about the ordinary non Ghia Fairmont? mine rides better than a Falcon, sort of like driving around in your lounge room. soft(floats over speed bumps)definately not sporty.

I think only the ghia was tickford..

dunno wants in a standard fairmont.. the docs I looked up said they were the same as standard falcon but could be wrong... The only reason I asked about the ghia, is because I have a set of xr6 front struts at home and they were bright yellow.. but the ghia I saw on the weekend had blue struts..

i wouldnt be concerned over the colour of the struts.... the EL's are 12 years old

The originals could of been replaced along the line, Monroe colours could have changed over the years etc etc.

I think the springs were standard Gli height but the shocks were a little softer. The height may have been lower as the Ghias were a little heavier than the Gli. I pulled out my original springs from my EL Fairmont Ghia 2 years ago and the shocks and springs were all black. In my gallery on page 2 is a pic when it was stock.
