I picked up a tyre decal for inside the door of an ELGT today from Ford to try an legalise my 18's and to my surprise it designates the tyre size as 245 / 40 R 17 with a rim code of 8.5 J. Is this a mistake or on purpose so you can't fit 19's to them?

So... they are 17 x 8.5". There is no mistake.

On top of that, everyone fits the wrong size tire to them.

Ahhh... A person who goes by the book. :D

But it is why everyone fits 235/45 to them. The 245/40's are an odd size, and they are expensive.

What brand rubber you put on them. I went looking for some decent 245's, but couldn't really find anything at my last tyre change?

I know them. Bloody good rubber. Standard on WRX's from memory.

But also know a set of 4 would set you back somewhere near the GDP of a small African nation.

I know they are around $600 for the 19" S03's, and the bridgestone guy reckons they wouldn't even last 20,000km cause they're that grippy.
Have u had any wear problems with your SO3's? jeffb?

They're just exxy as, to get no wear out of them and no one i know has used them yet.

Mine have been going OK, they grib like s**t to a blanket, I dont know how far I have gone on them but they seem to be wearing OK, I do give them a hard time, I think they would go a bit further than 20,000k's, dunno how much past 30,000 tho.

I just put Yoko Advan V103 on my TS50 for similar money and they are no comparison really.
