Hey all,
Not sure if this is the right forum for this... As some of you know, I'm buying a JMM Dev 5 worked 5-spd EL XR6 from Melbourne. It's got a high performance clutch, with stocko shifter. I'm planning to fit a GM Motorsport Ripshifter into it when it arrives here in Perth, with the hope that it will quicken & smooth out the shifts a little. However, the seller has told me that it does have quite a heavy clutch pedal (compared to the BA anyway). Is this normal for a stock EF/EL 5-spd manual? How do you manual owners find your stocko clutch pedals on the 'ol left foot? Is it possible to retrofit a hydraulic-type clutch pedal that may make the clutch pedal lighter & easier to push down? After driving Autos for the past 6 years, I'm probably just being a complete wuss & worrying about driving a manual again, ...but any suggestions & opinions would be very interesting to hear! Cheers guys.

the only clutch i've used that was heavier was in an old kingswood! you do get used to it, i guess. i don't notice it anymore, but when others go to drive it, the first thing they say is how heavy the clutch is!!

The only reason the pedal is heavy is because of the High performance clutch its running, Had the same issues when we installed a High performance Clutch to my mates EL

I like my heavy clutch. Unfortunately I have a problem of putting my foot thru the footwell of any other manual car I drive after mine. Because you get use to the weight of it. The ex g/f use to cringe everytime i drove her festiva. LOL.

So that's why she's your ex, heh? But seriously, thanks guys, ...I am probably just being a wuss! But it is good to know that a heavy clutch is to be expected in a Falc. I'm a big guy, so I should get used to it in no time! Thanks again.

mine had a heavy clutch
Just make sure you regulary check teh clutch able as they can fray and make your pedalstiffer and then bend the pedal box

lol. My XR6 had a HD clutch in it. twas heavy as f**k. everyone that drove it stalled it.
didn't help that I had it adjusted so the friction point was two parts of f**k all away from the floor. Awesome for drags, but unhealthy for daily driving. You will hve a bit of trouble getting used to it, but you'll be fine. |

Reinforce the pedal box when you have a heavy clutch.
Mine broke. Pain in the neck to fix. Easy to fix pain in the neck to get access (dash removal). |
