Hi, ive just found out my dark grey EL XR8 series 1 is an option 20 police pack, what does this mean ive got that others dont, i found out it was option 20 when i got the dash into diagnostic mode and got the bit where u can adjust the speed, then looked on the id tag, opt20, i Know its got the different dash fascia, 3.45 diff gears, alloy tailshaft, and thats it, has no options, does this mean its not speed limited, and revs harder, its got full lovells springs all round, what else does opt20 mean?

OPT20 as far as i know

6cyls & 8cyls
Harder Shift (goes to redline before shift on power mode)
Tickford Suspension (all non xr specs that is too)
Transmission Coolers Fitted
Towbar (optioned)
GLi's weres basically a debadged futura/xr.
ECU was not speed limited
Instrument Cluster had adjustable speedo setting+incriments of 2km/h.
Alloy Tailshaft
Non XR got police/taxi chaser-pursuit silver wheels (much stronger then stock black ones).
3.23 (fitted to detective non xr vehicles instead of 3.08)
3.45 fitted to v8 opted cars.

I think thats it really.

hey guys, ive got the detective version ef ii gli six as far as ive been told the speed limiter is still on the sixes but is removed on the eights (bastards)
it looks mine had a sump protector on it as well but has been removed similar to what some othe rally cars would have, debating wether to get another one or not, am having probs with gearbox atm very slugish when u put the boot in, and found a leak between trans housing and engine today, if i keep the fluid topped up it runs ok, let it run low it slips worse than a fu@#ed manual clutch.

i know that the speed limiter has been taken off on cop vehicles, and this makes a unrestricted speed... but does your revs still have a limiter or can you rev it past the red line and blow the engine/ do damage??

if that makes sense i am half asleep and cant word things properly...lol

Of course there would still be a limiter; i cant see the reason theyd remove it for cops lol. ot like cops cant blow the engine cos their "law enforcers" they will still have to drive within the boundaries of the car, just not restricted on speed as speed would help them, revs over 5500 would do jack all?
