Having just purchased an FBT with the 330mm one piece discs and 2 piston calipers - I was wondering how hard is it to get quality bits to build another set. Are the spindles, calipers and discs available from Ford or elsewhere (pt numbers????) and was the twin piston caliper used on any other variation (AU TE's maybe)?

far as i know supposedly brembo but its very hard to get the stuff of them
but mustang 94/95 parts, eg spindles/rotors/calipers will fit direct but thats "supposed" not 100% sure, Joe from Crescent Motorsports and I are working on getting the parts into aus and fitting/selling here in SYd/around aus for under the $1k mark |

I think you will find they are twin piston PBR callipers like the GT.
Brembo I think made its first appearance in AUII? XR8Chic would know if Mustang spindles etc swap over, pretty sure Kelli is using twin piston Mustang callipers. New Mustangs have gone backwards and use McPherson struts, so those brakes wont be a option.

What I am asking is not for aftermarket stuff - I could go to Cebco and get that - I am chasing the "Tickford" winged calipers and other GT/FBT specifics.

Hi Shane,
I have chased up PBR about the calipers etc. Dont have them anymore. You will have to hunt around for a damaged GT (good luck) Ford were even asking $700 per front upright 
Maybe this could be a good opportunity for someone with engineering knowledge to come up with a design or adaptor plate that can fit the AU twin piston setup onto a std or slightly modified upright. There are heaps of twin piston calipers sitting around at the wreckers that can be picked up for a good price. But if Fuzion can get the Mustang setup here for around 1K, that is better than paying Cebco 2.2K for the same thing. Steve

It'l lbe the mustang 94/95 calipers (new though) but not 100% sure on if its this one we'll need or what!

Keep us posted Fuzion, those mustang calipers souns like a good mod.
By the way, how much does a mustang weigh? Would be an interesting comparision?

I might look into adapting the AU twin piston calipers to the E series...wouldnt mind a set on my EF XR8.. are they twin spots or four spot piston calipers...?Im currently in the process of making some adaptor plates to fit these massive BREMBO race calipers onto a mustang,and still fit the 15" rims...but I've come thru with the goods...all the other engineering shops said it couldnt be done...

With the amount of Resources we have pooled within this Forum I cant see why we cant all get together on a few projects that could benefit us all mutually

Hi All I am also trying to source a decent brake conversion for my ED XR-6. Any information you can give, or if you are trying to get enough interest in sourcing either locally or in the states count me in!!
I am new to FORDMODS only perousing each thread but this has caught my eye, and would definately be interested!! I have tried to source GT brakes and uprights from Ford .They said OBSOLETE no longer available. Regards loco......... |

A mate is working on a kit that uses AU Uprights to bolt into E-Series. He is just looking for an engineering joint with a 5 axis CNC that want his moneys.....
