You've modified the speedo signal to the ECU as well.
Out of interest, where have you tapped into the speedo signal?

You'll have to get it reading the 'wrong speed' (what the speedo was reading before you corrected it) at the ECU.
So another speedo correction unit unless someone else has any other ideas?

To explain how it works, the autos shift on speed not RPM.
So, as an example, it plans to shift from 1st to 2nd at 80km/h under WOT.
If you change diff gears and don't change the sender gear, or change the signal to the ECU, it shifts fine.
Because it's still seeing the same output shaft/tailshaft speed at the box.
You may only be doing an ACTUAL 60km/h when the speedo shows 80, but the ECU doesnt know that.

So if you go to shorter gears, like you have, and change the signal to the ECU, it is still wanting to wait till 80km/h before it shifts, but it'll never get there obviously.

whats happening is the ecu is not being fooled or being fooled too much and the shift points in the trans are up the creek. the shift points go on the speedo not the tacho and are controlled by the ecu.

i didn't have this trouble with mine as its an early eb.

if you disconnect the corrector does it sort itself out? if so then its something to do with how the corrector is wired in.

sorry i can't be of more help. don't really know what i'm on about.

I was under the impression the signal went Sender > ECU > Dash, gogetta corrected me, and obviously by how you've got it wired up he's right.
So, the signal goes sender > dash > ecu.
I've never played with the speedo correctors, but the only way I can see is to get two, one before the dash to make the speedo right, then one after the dash to make it wrong again.
There could be another way, but I don't know it :?
Hope all that helps a bit mate.

i have thought about this and im not surprised its happening now....

as the ecu receives the speed signal from the dash...the dash receives it from the sender....

ive heard many people claim it the other way but it goes SENDER->DASH->ECU (check the wiring diag)

ecu is programmed to change at a set speed....of course your hitting the limiter as the ecu is waiting to reach a certain speed before shifting...

you maybe able to run the sender straight to the ecu and splice the correct into that and then run the output to the dash....dont know if this will work as the dash may cleanup or alter the sender signal in someway...but u could try it OR buy another corrector and run 2

i been thinking about this 2nd unit to and came up with if i do that its only going to put me back were i was insted of geting a true 180ks limet the ecu will cut me out at around 120 cause it thinks its telling the truth again so i think maby a i mite have to get a xr6 ecu with another unit to get over this speed limet prob what yous think?

no it will work well with 2 convertors but you will still have the 180 limit

Yes, you are going to need an XR ECU to get rid of the limiter.
If you want the auto shifting right, you are going to f**k the limiter up, and vice versa.

66 coupe, could u explain the basis of how it works....

if it just sends an altered signal to the ecu then wont it also muck up the shift points?
