i have a very annoying problem. every time my au drives over anything bigger than an ant' my t bar will move back and forth pretty badly! what would be the culprit behind this problem and whats the average price to get it fixed ! is there any danger of something breaking if i dont address this problem now! |

On my EBII there were meant to be two nylon bushs but one had worn to the point of falling out. Replaced and all was good, for the age car anyway.

Sounds more like a rear Mount. The Genuine one is WAY too expensive @ $218.00 but you should be able to buy one from someone like Bursons or Blacktown Auto Spares for a LOT less.

+1 for the rear mount, probably soaked in oil and given up. also check the lh (passenger engine mount) for same. sometimes can even be from the front subframe being loosely bolted to chassis
and edxr6-poly , sounds like the bushes, need 2 , remove the nut that u saw holding the selector lever on , 1 bush goes there and the other goes under the car on the other side of the threaded rod(opposite end of the shaft) |

anyone know the part number or is it easier for me to machine up a set of brass bushes on a lathe?

Use Castrol PH grease ( Zinc oxide....white in colour ) for the bushes when installing them. You can also use it on the door latches, bonnet latch, boot latch and door checks, too.

i suppose i better get this problem fixed before getting my 3.71 lsd fitted at xmas!
i better take the car to my little indian mechanic & get him to do the once over before my rego is due. i did notice my drivers side engine mount has over half of the rubber coating missing ! can only imagine what the other 2 look like. one more question ! my au is a 4ltr auto ( forte ) ! bog stock well apart from the body kit ! as above i am getting a 3.71 lsd fitted at xmas ! can i drive in & get the diff specialist to replace my tired old 3.08 centre with the 3.71 lsd centre & fit it to my stock rear end and still use my stock tailshaft and everything ! im not willing to perform major surgery just to gain some quick acceleration. |

probably have to check with the diff guy whether the 3.7 gears will fit in the 3.08 housing, but tailshaft lengths are the same.
have u been quoted on how much to change the gears over and set it up? |

no not yet ! every night before going to bed i empty all my change into an empty 2ltr coke bottle
and at the end of the year i end up with about 4 full bottles of change aprox/ $2000+ ! so i was just going to go to a diff installer then and see what happens ! i dont want the added expense of buying xr6 or xr8 diff s from rotor to rotor ! could not be fu..ed ! that would be a serious price blowout ! |

to get the gears and a used (supplied by u) lsd fitted and setup it may cost $600 up to $1000 with some new bearing and seals, maybe more.
the xr6 lsd diffs go from $200 upwards too, but u would have trouble finding one 3.7 geared. most or all are 3.45 |
