A couple of uni joints might be handy - one directly on the 19mm socket, and one between the extensions worked well for me.

A block of wood between the bellhousing and the tunnel worked for me.
The passenger side uppermost bolt will need access this way - the driver side uppermost one can be reached pretty easy in the engine bay with a ring spanner if you jack the transmission up against the tunnel, if you can't get to it with the transmission lowered.

Drop the CAT pipe off. It lets the engine tilt further, so you can get the top bolts. You will need about a metre of extenions ( 1/2" drive) and 1 uni-joint and a 19mm socket.
Done hundreds like that.

i've found putting a bottle jack under that he-uge casting that bolts onto the block for the alternator and lifting the front up very handy. with a 5spd but same theory would apply to the auto. also you need the meters worth of extensions n uni's

not being able to unbolt the cat wouldve been the reason why you had so much trouble

Undoing the exhaust at it's junction near the gearbox rear is the easiest. The exhaust mounts to the gearbox rear are different with the T5 and the BTR auto as well.

Thats why its a really, really good idea to have flanges on the extractors, because later, you might need to fix/service something along the line.

yeah i had trouble but i just used extensions with a uni joint and rp7
first thing i did though was brake the sill by going the oppisite direction of undoing them then i just used all my energy and undid them slipped both times and cut my hands open
but in the end they went off.
its easier with the manual i just took the gear box of the bell housing and i had a lot more room to remove the bell housing
