a few weeks ago, i got a lightweight billet flywheel put in aswell as a extreme ceramic button clutch
who has got this clutch? does yours shudder when taking off at low rpm? mine did when i first got it, REAL bad (but i was told it was normal, especially when its still getting worn in), anything above 2000 and it was fine, but i thiought this was just the style of clutch, apart from that this the clutch is amazing. So i thought the xr8 was all good, untill a few days ago... driving down my street, going to turn a corner (has a tight lsd and crabwalks somtimes), when i went round this corner slowly it started crab walking and somthing went BANG. It was that loud i thought i blew a tyre out. Today i looked under and ive found that the rear sway bar pin on one side has bent and hit the underbody of the car, it gets worse...... i pulled over seeing that everything underneather was OK, but i started to take off and my mates faced dropped as my whole axel+diff housing was rotating from 0 to 45 degrees somtimes. when u take off its liek the caliper wants to follow the disc, and it goes up and down around the disc, the whole diff housing is rotating back and forth, and when u back it off it goes back to its original position. Now i pulled the upper and lower arms off the back today. great, no damage, which means i got no idea wat the f**k is going on. The top arm rubbers are pretty f**k, and the bottom ones might be spongy but i hardly think that spongy and f**k bushes could cause this much travel on the diff rotation. The watts link looks fine. NO bends or cracks in any of the arms! has anyone else got or had this problem before? i have some heavy duty upper arms comin 2moro with new bushes and heavy duty lower arms with new bushes comin too. Hopefully this may fix it but i dont think it will. Got any ideas?

can u turn the rear wheels by hand? if not u may have an internal diff fault brought to the surface by a ceramic clutch. if they do then the f**k bushes u mentioned are causing havoc once again brought to the surface by a button clutch.
if by extreme clutch u mean Xtreme, as a business i've fitted 12 of them in the last 9 months. 7 of them have come back and every time i've had to wear the warranty as Xtreme reckon(takes 6 months+ to get any response) they are within spec and there is nothing wrong with thier product. i've even included photos of collapsed pressure plates before a clutch bolt was undone and they still wont come to the party. u get what u pay for. a decent race quality clutch costs a far more than thier cheap rubbish - at least u get a free keyring and sticker for your windscreen. in your case it might not be thier product at fault. it may be thier product which has exposed a few other issues.

I had something similar, I broke the bolts for the front of the lower trailing arms, and the little spacer broke off too, and the sway bar outer link mounts on the chassis broke too. Check all of those.

sounds like the trailing arm bushes are rooted and causing the diff to pivot forward and back.
also check swaybar bushes, but by the sounds of it, they're probably stuffed too.

Obviously the arms aren't fine if the diff is rotating around.
Is "tight LSD" code for spool, cause that would explain why the bushes in the control arms are fooked.

well the arms are fine mate
and a tight lsd means a tight lsd, hops round corners and s**t, u know? wish it was as simple and a broken arm but it aint...

If the control arms are fine, they wouldn't be allowing the diff to rotate.
I'd put money that as soon as you get new arms in there with new bushes, it will stop doing it.

it has to be the upper trailing arm bushes, and if your lsd is as tight as you say, locked at slow speed, skipping on slow turns, you would pretty much have flogged the upper arms, we put a spool in an el and it took just a few shot weeks to root the upper arms, they cop all the twist on acceleration, and if its lowered it will hammer the uppers even quicker

as well as flogged rubbers there could be a bit of excess squat or anti-squat, did you check the shockers?
