Guys... need your help
I have a 2004 XT . I have stuck 19' rims on it and am now looking at getting lowered slightly to XR height. I want to avoid replacing shocks and have been told by suspension places I won't need a camber kit if I'm only going to XR height. I've been offered some springs off an F6 Typhoon for a good price Would these spring be suitable for what I want?....ie are these springs the same spec as a NA XR6? Cheers guys

springs are diff to Xr6 and xr6 t i would say
they will lower the car yes the handling may be crap as u would need f6 spec shock. i would get a camber kit regardless

if i fitted a set of f6 typhoon springs and shocks to a BA XT, how bad will the handling get? will they fit properly to begin with?

Had the F6 springs fitted by Pedders last saturday using my existing shocks...The springs lowered the car by about 25mm . Pedders recommended that I didn't change the shocks because of the cars low mileage. The handling is vastly improved and the body roll it did have is virtually non existent. The ride is not harsh either (or not taht i can notice) Cheers

Sounds like it worked out there Ozmale... Good one.
Keep an eye on your front tyres for wear on the inside, just in case the camber setup isnt quite right and a kit is needed as Frank suggested. |

may i humbly ask what a camber kit is?
a lot folks here talk about it, i assume the ba has issues retaining its camber so this kit fixes a design fault? |

A camber kit is an aftermarket item that allows
extra adjustment for the camber (or vertical axis of wheels) setup of the front end, beyond that provided by the standard units. Shims as required are used to pack out over the longer bolts and thus provide a more accurate setup. The kits are pretty popular for "low" springs and regarded by many as a definite requirement for "super lows". A kit can give you a really nice setup on the front end and a longer life for your tyres.

OK heres some pics of it lowered using the F6/XR springs...Now most of you guys will say "should've gone lower" but at least my front bar doesn't scrape. Gone down by around 35-40mm front and rear I haven't debadged it yet and I'm not sure I'm going to...Pulled out the expired credit card and had bug and tar remover in hand, went down to the garage and just couldn't do it!! Tow ball removed though. If you look at the side on pick (1st pick) of the right hand side of the car do any of you notice that the doors look a darker shade of blue than the rest of the car? My ex wife had an accident a year ago the result being both doors were resprayed....After putting the side skirts and colour coding the door moulding it looks like the paint on the doors wasn't matched correctly.....stands out like dogs balls IMO! It's going back to the insurer next Tuesday to be assessed under the lifetime repairs warranty and I'm hoping it will be rectified. Hope you like the pics
