got an EF2 fairmont and its got a 3.23 NON LSD....I thought all EF/EL had 3.08 except for XR engined cars...

the owners manual just says "3.08 , 3.23 , 3.45 - varies by model spec, check metal tag on diff"......

my old EF Gli had a 3.08 and all other EF's ive seen had a 308s

One strange one I saw was an EL taxi that had a NON LSD 3.45 diff - any idea if the "taxi pacK" came with a quicker ratio diff...

let us know what your EF/EF2/EL has pls...

GLi's all got 3.08's unless they were optioned with LSD, where Ford fitted 3.23 LSD's. A pretty rare occurance.

Futura, Fairmonts, Fairlanes and I6 LTD's all got 3.23 non LSD. Once again, LSD was an option.

Fairmont Ghia, XR6, XR8, V8 LTD got the 3.45 LSD as standard.

As for that taxi, the gears are interchangable between diffs, and they dont have to be LSD. So its possible they just got the good gears by accident.

I do have a good complete EL 3.45 LSD out of this Ghia im wrecking if you want a nice ratio swap. :D

Thats one model I've never seen under the a** end of. Both my parents have I6 NL's.

But I would hazard a guess and say its s 3.23 S/S. I cant see why they would give the V8's a 3.45 LSD and not the same for the I6's.

If you look on your diff, on the drivers side facing the back, there is a sticker to the left of the upper arm bracket. The has the diff type and ratio on it.

At a quick glance, if the sticker is yellow, its a 3.45 LSD. If its white, then its probably a 3.23 LSD.

If you want to confirm, jack it up and have a close look. But also remember that LSD was an option from the factory on all models, so it may have been optioned up as well...
