Hey everyone. My mate has converted me to Ford! I was going to buy a VX Clubsport but after seeing his EB and all the work he has done I fell in love with it. i told him I always liked EF and EL Falcons but always wanted a NL Fairlane. three days later he found me one and I bought it for $600! Did I mention it's a V8!
Anyway first major mod after Rims is Airbag suspension. Please help me find the right way of doing this. |

First things first, can you tell us what exactly you want to achieve.
For example, is the car going to become a monster car crusher or are you looking to repair the factory air suspension to as new / stock standard ??? |

ok well all I want to do is have it fully sitting on the ground or very close to when I am parked. When I'm driving I want it to be at a reasonable height so the law don't give me to much trouble.

so you want a airbag suspension setup. to be legal it has to have self levelling. so when you take off it levels itself to a legal height. and have 3 layer bags. and be engineered. so probably about 4-5k

Taking into account what you would like to achieve and the considerable capital investment needed to achieve it, you might want to consider what the car is actually worth and just how good a condition it is (given you only paid $600.00 for it one would assume it's a high mileage car with its fair share of wear and tear) before and after.
Is it going to be worth it? I know i'll sound like a parent but at age 27 i can assure you you'd be far better off saving towards a deposit on a house in place of sinking all your money on modifying a car. I promise you at age 37 i wish i had done it that way... Sincerely, John |

i'll actually help answer you question.
there are no 'pre-made' air bag kits to suit e-series falcon's. meaning the costs of installing such are quite high. unless you can do the fabrication work yourself, you'd probably be looking at $2500 atleast for a budget setup. add more if you're getting someone else to do the dirty work, and even more if you want self leveling. see here for further details: http://www.boostedfalcon.net/viewtopic. ... 19&t=19479

hey thanks for the info... It is all worth it. I have just came out of a ten yar reltionship so to me its like a present to myself.. I am only 27 but I want this car done. I was going to buy a 01 Clubsport for 20k so I think i would be b better off with pooring 20k in this. My mate has an E B on here under JETREO and it is insane!!! So my car will be the same with BA dash running gear engine and so on... So the airbags are a must in this project.

If you're planning on doing the BA engine swap, if you change to the AU/BA subframe which has been done a few times, it'll make bagging the front a lot easier.

yeah i will be doing the ba k frame if you guys have checked up on jet-reo's thread ed dohc conversion.
You will find he has done this k frame swap to help accomodate the zf 6speed he put in. Hee is my house mate so he's gonna be there every step of the way. Its just this airbag thing that we need to clarify i tried that link above but had no luck finding the commodore does anyone know of any particuar brands of airbag systems that could be close to suitable? Thanks so much for the help guys much appreciated cheers chris |

Pearly on AFF used 'Shockwaves' to do the front of his ute.
http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11312791 but as i mentioned, ProBag have done a few AU's which will be what you need to consider given you'll be running a BA/AU front end.
