eb and up will fit straight in .. even the v8 tailshafts are the same length and use the same input shaft as the 6 cyl..(some have a balancer on the gearbox end) but otherwise are pretty much the same..
eg.. i had a ef aluminium v8 auto tail shaft fitted to my ea 5 speed..(with ed diff) the only ones that are different are fairlane/station wagon because of longer wheel base... |

The EF one, the EA will have the wrong flange for the EF diff.

with my T5 i removed from the EB, the auto tail shaft was about 1 inch shorter as the tail shaft was only in the gearbox a little bit. altho it was a flat flange diff connection

not really.. the only difference would be about 5mm in length.. when i put my ed diff in my ea i used the alloy tailshaft from a ef v8 due to it touching the floor i used the narrow steal ea one instead but i had to change pinion flange. when i put them side by side the ef one was only 5mm longer. |

Any of you guys know the differences between an XF drive shaft and an EF one? I have a 67 mustang with an EF v8 plus auto but I need to put the power to an XF diff. I will have to shorten whatever one I get because the EF gearbox is way longer than the old 3 speed, just wondering what is the best shaft to get, or probably what one would be easiest to put in?

TroyMan, I am putting an EF diff into the EA, I was going to find an EF tailshaft but reading your message is the pinion interchangeable between an EF and and EA diff? In otherwords can I remove the EA flange and put it on an EF diff?
