i had to change the top ball joint in my ea last week after less than 10,000k's after replacing them all with new ones. just curious to hear if anyone else has had dramas with them. they were motorcraft so genuine items.
people who pressed the old one out were arguin with me it had to have at least 300,000 kays on it.

Was the ball joint replaced under warranty as most replacement parts genuine or oherwise have 20,000k 12 month replacement warranty. AS for the 300,000k's whats on the clock and were the ball joins riveted or bolted in.

ball joints are pressed in. 220 on the clock now little over 210 perhaps less when all ball joints, tie rod ends, wheel bearings, bushes everything was replaced.
as for the warranty that only applies to organised (read:smart) enough people to keep reciepts 
apparently motorcraft don't have alot of pre-mature failures with ball joints.

From what you have said work was done in a liceced work shop and they should have their own records so your recipt should not really be an issue.

not when the only work the workshop did was push the ball joint i suplied into the knuckle i supplied the cash wouldve went straight into the guys pocket and straight down the pub that avo

Ok you have a good point. Your next step is to do the job your self now that it's all bolted together and put beer in your own fridge

i can and have done everything myself bar pressing the ball joints in. ive got a 6 tonne shop press n various brake presses 50 - 100 tonne at work and still easier gettin someone whos got all the dyes to do it.
$25 wouldn't cover the cost of a carton these days. barely buy 3 long necks and a pack of ciggies for that anymore :S just a pain after that short time and of course just before rego. i thought the nipple was an awsome idea untill i put it all in and it cleared my $300 firestone buy less than 6mm.
