Hi there thrillseekers. I'm back after a long hiatus. It has come to pass that I need to replace the rear diff bushes on the FG ( sedan ), and I have a few questions that some may be able to answer. Firstly, I have a 4 post hoist, and was wondering what is the best way to get the rear suspension out ( and back in for that matter ) once everything is undone. I am thinking maybe a gearbox hoist ? How heavy is it, can 2 ppl manage it? Also, what is the best kit to use for replacement bushes? I'm not gonna use Ford stuff. Thinking Pedders ??
Oh, and another thing. I will probably replace the tailshaft center bearing at the same time. However, looking at it, I see that the uni joint doesn't have any clips on it. The caps seem to be "peened over" which means that they are virtually unreplaceable/serviceable. Can one get at the nut in front of the spline in order to take the shaft apart?? All suggestions gratefully accepted Cheers |
