I have an xt sedan, and I'm sick of the body roll... My last vehicle was an xr6 au ute, and the difference is incredible.
My question is... Sway bars... Is there any difference between the xt vs xr vs fpv sway bars, front and back? Or will I have to go aftermarket? Eg whiteline.

best bet would be to ring ford and see how many different part numbers there is, each different part number would suggest the part is different somehow. for best results though go for a whiteline job

Cheers, have to contact ford about those part numbers... If that's the case the cheap option will be stripping a wreck, but if not... Below is what whiteline offer... Just for anyone else on here thats curious for price.
BFF54Z Front Sway bar - 33mm heavy duty blade 4 point adjustable $500 BFR42Z Rear Sway bar - 22mm heavy duty blade 2 point adjustable $265

BFF54Z Front Sway bar - 33mm heavy duty blade 4 point adjustable $500 BFR42Z Rear Sway bar - 22mm heavy duty blade 2 point adjustable $265 The front sway bar in my FG is quite big in diameter. I've not measured it but I'd estimate that it's around 30mm+. I had some body roll as you have in your XT but after Wholesale Suspension put in the King Springs, my body roll dropped dramatically. At no time has anyone at Wholesale Suspension recommended replacing the stock sway bars. They suggested only doing the springs and the only shocks better than the standard units are Koni or Bilstein. In fact they told me to stay with the standard shock until they wear out which should be in excess of 100,000 kms. It's nice to see honest advice! Regards, Jason. |

Contact Whiteline bro. They might have sway bars for the FG's. If you go to big sway bars, be sure to get heavy duty links with it, as they are a lot heavier by about 3-4kg than the stock ones. But, you will notice the difference in handling, it's amazing.
I run 30mm up front (max for BA) and a 21-22mm Adjustable at the rear, again the largest.

Regards, Jason. cheers Jason, thats what i wanted to hear... but i guess whiteline would still be better, but its just a matter of if its $765 better... oh well, still got 2 more tricks up my sleeve. hopefully get some front xr springs this afternoon, then i can drop it to xr height (hopefully help a little). Then also gotta check those part numbers by ford and see what the xr/fpv vehicles run... see if they are any stiffer. Also cheers Krazed... it is awfully tempting... but just cant afford it at the moment... the $765 plus the heavy duty links ($275 for both front and back), mmm alot of coin...

Just had a quick chat to a bloke that used to work for a major ford service centre here in brisbane, and i was informed that the xr's do infact have stiffer sway bars from that of the Xt's.
so i gave a local-ish wrecker a call just a second ago, and he gave me the quote of $65+gst each for xr front and back sway bars. so for a bit over $130 i might just give that a crack to start with.

i guess the xr would be different to an xt as they have sports supension. however as said by someone else before i also dropped mine with some king ssl springs and it took a s**t load of the body roll away. upgraded sway bars will help sharpen up your cornering though

Yeah that's the plan, but at the moment only got 17" rims off my au xr.
And SSL king's would look a bit silly with scratched up 17's... Lol So xr height and sway bars will have to do for the time being.
