I wouldn't be surprised if 100% of us have that. Even more horrible if you keep the shifter in 1st up to 60kmh.

What I'm trying to figure out is how to find and fix my driveline hum at 80kmh under load. In cruise mode at 80, there is a droney hum that goes up and down slighly in pitch. Maybe a warped alloy rim, tailshaft inbalance, centre bearing. How many of us have this I wonder?

i think it has somthing to do with ford just loving that werring noise. all the auto XD-F's do it. my EF does it. as does my fathers AU, although his is much less noticeable.

every auto falcon that ive been in has this "winding up" noise.

Yep, I have it.
The T5 in my Sprint is a tad noisy too with no music on...
Almost like it's got straight cut gears :P

Kit sounds like you could have a worn uni, worn extension housing bush or driveshaft is slightly out of balance. I would check the uni joints first as you say it happens under load.
Now i used to get a weird banging/crunching sound sometimes when under hard acceleration and gear change in my auto. It went away after i had to replace the shift soleniod (S1) as it started to go into limp mode (3rd gear)

every falcon i have been in makes that noise (they have all been autos) i am pretty sure that it is just the noise they make. My zorst tends to be loud enough to cover it though!! :D
