Got to say its fairly simple but there is a few little things you got to look out for.
1: Make sure the rear stop bolt for the shifter is all the way in when you raise the support frame for the gearbox, otherwise it will hit the edge of the hole in the floor of the car for the shifter. 2: Damn sharp edges everywhere. I bled like a stuck pig about 3 times. So avoid them. 3: Use good quality tools. My 13mm socket from K-mart exploded trying to undo the gearbox support frame. Used my Kinchrome socket set and it survived. 4: You have to seal the edge where it contacts the top of the gearbox so when removing the old one clear out any old sealant from the bolt hole threads otherwise its tight as a bastard. 3 out of 4 bolts screwed all the way in by fingers the 4th one I had to use a spanner the whole way. I did it twice to make sure I didnt cross thread anything. 5: I cut the old bracket that sits on top of the rubber boot to fit where the rear stop adjustment bolt is because it hits it otherwise. I have no extra cabin noise like a few others have said they did. Just a better shift. 6: Dont forget to support the gearbox when you lower it to access the front bolts on the shifter. 7: The higher the car off the ground the easier the job is. Well thats about it. I just need to make some adjustments to the stop adjustment bolts. I think I wound it in a little to far. Took me about 2 hours. But I could do it a lot quicker now. Cheers If anyone has any question about fitting the short shifters feel free to ask. I recommend doing it yourself rather than paying. |

Um yeah photos um my hands were too dirty to handle a camera and I did the job myself so no one was on hand with a camera.
Benefit of the short shifter?? f**k knows. However the shift feels more responsive and the 2nd to 3rd change you'll never crunch again. Also the throw of the stick isnt as far so it theoretically makes gear changes faster. |

No its the turret on top of the gearbox. I kept the same stick. The pivot point (or fulcrum) is higher so because the fulcrum is higher the less you physically move it at the top to acheive the same amount of throw on the bottom. It has a tougher spring mechanism in it so it springs to centre easily for the 2nd to 3rd gear change. |

I got mine in as well.
I think the holes in the transmission tunnels must be different between models :S I couldnt fit my stop bolts up the hole, had to cut half moons in the floor pan so they fitted through and could still be adjusted. john_xr6 had to cut one for his rear stop bolt. The triax handle is a tad short for my liking, so I am using the stock handle at the moment, with the aluminium spacers to eliminate the rubber bushing. Feels f**k awesome, alot better. 2-3 is now almost impossible to miss (youd have to fight the spring loading to miss it, or be retarded). Bit more noise, but I'm driving an ED with a 195kw 5L so I could not give a f**k less lol. Southy wrote: i want one of those straight shift 2nd to third short T5 shifters. f**k awesome
You should have got one of these Steeda ones man. I'm going to cut and rethread an EF-EL shifter on mine, to get the position I like, and it will be perfect.

Couldnt you wind it as far as you can get them. I had the shifter pushed in 3rd when I raised it so the bolts would just clear. The front bolt was an easy miss but the rear one was very close.
