Bought my car 94 v8 fairlane some thermos today and was wondering what would be the best way to wire them up.
I want them to turn on automatically when the need arises if possible as id rather not have a manual switch in the cabin to use at my discretion eg when i remember. i also rang around newy today and hardly any autolecs have a clue how to put thermos in so if any local lads/lasses know anyone let me now please.

you can buy a davies craig switch which goes into your top radiator hose, and that switches your thermos on. it's also adjustable. I'm not a big fan as it looks messy, but it does do the job.
you can also buy a kit from jaycar which just taps into your existing temperature circuit and will switch when the resistance is low enough (also adjustable). someone was telling me last week about getting a switch out of a corolla or pulsar and tapping a hole or re-tapping the hole in the thermostat housing, and using that to switch earth. that might be worth looking into a bit more, but you would want it to switch at the right temperature. I much prefer switching earth for the thermos, as it's easier to wire up, but this diagram shows you how to do it the way most people know how. I borrowed the basic picture off huggiebear but added the necessary wiring. I hope this helps.

One of my good mates is an auto electriction, and he is gonna give me a hand when i finally get round to getting my thermos.
Out of curiosity where did you get yours nc 5ltr?

well that diagram says ignition or switched positive. it just depends on how he wires it up. either switch the positive (recommended), or just run it off ignition (not recommended).

could someone tell me how to get theclutch fan off please.
i now its anti-clockwise thread but how doi budge it with the fan moving? cheers

get a big pry bar and wedge it between 1 or 2 of the screws so you can stop it from moving it, then undo a bolt that isn't being levered off, but don't unscrew them once they're loose, as you will need it there till you do them all.
we have a tool at work for it, but i still do it my way.

hey smoke rubber,that sounds like an awesome idea that jaycar r selling,the setup that wires into ur orig coolant temp sensor,and works of resistance.any idea what they cost.wil have to check it out,i have a microtech ecu on my car and they have aux inputs and outputs,there is a aux dedicated for run the thermo to come on at any desired coolant temp,cool ay

yeh its not a bad idea.
the aftermarket ecu's are alot better though.
