I have a ford falcon Au Series 3
Just started driving made a left turn and accelerated when i heard a loud pop/bang noise. I stopped put it in N then back in drive and drove home with no noises, Now i have taken it for a drive today and it felt fine, When i say fine i mean no clunk noises no grinding nothing!, I drove around the block twice then got confident. Accelerated 60% and BANG, lost Rpm instantly now i still had my foot down during the bang usually if a diff or axle would break i would assume it will rev off its head?? well it didn't then engine seemed to drop to 1,000 Rpm instantly as the noise took place, then put it into N and Back into drive with no noise doing that and made it home. I honestly don't know whats going on, and cant get my head around why my rpm dropped when it went bang. Any help appreciated thank you.

with tailshaft your pic shows normal wear as it has to move in & out gearbox
if its 'only' going 'bang' under heavy acceleration i'd hazard a guess n say its backfiring under load hopefully soon someone with sum more experience will show up................. |

Does it have LPG ????....if so, there's a problem there....like HT leads, or spark plugs or something along those lines.

Yeah LPG backfire.
That's how they let you know it's time for new leads and plugs. |
