Hey guys going to get a camber kit (shims) for my Ford EL which has been lowered on the front.... never done one and wonder if anyone has got pictures to show me on where they fit?

They go in between the upper control arm and the strut tower of the car. They just space the upper arm out more as required.

They arnt just plug and play tho. You need a wheel aligner to get it right.

So i heard, was thinking of just putting the kit on without any shims and allowing them to add them as needed.

Hey dude. Just a note, if you've done it already then disregard..
If not, and your gonna be keeping the car, fork out for the nolathane adjustable camber kit. It's a bit more expensive, but your wheel aligner will love you, and the job is faster. Also, the shims have a wider +/- range. The adjustable can be tuned to spot on..

thanks lowlane7, nah havent done it yet... i was conisdering the adjustable one but i heard that they can come loose over time?? is this true?

Are you sure you need a camber kit? most of the time there is enough adjustment in the factory gear that a camber kit is not required.

Well to be honest I'm not entirely sure perhaps I should take it to the local tyre factory and get them to check it ?

If you decide that you need a set I've got two sets (enough for both sides) of Nolathane ( with shims) brand new still in their bags if you are interested.

How much are you after fairlane6970?
Also the car has been lowered at the front with superlows leading me to believe that a possible camber kit would be a good move for future trye ware and such.... |

Possible, but not necessarily a requirement. If it isn't needed, then it is just a waste of money. I have Superlows on my AU with no camber kit. The factory stuff had more than enough adjustment left in it for my situation.

I tend to agree with this - a tyre place is probably okay for check alignments, but major changes like springs, etc is better with a specialist - plus they'll be able to advise you. I've had alignments done with the local Bob Jane - it's usually a toe in/out adjustment, as they 'don't have' the shims to adjust castor/camber, 'we do have them on order' - my count on this has been 18mths - 2 yrs. I do write down castor/camber specs beforehand, and luckily they are usually within spec. The aligners I've talked to have no idea on the Falcon SLALS suspension - they just look at the settings on the computer. I'm not sure if this is typical of tyre outlets, but it is my experience. Agree also with checking alignment with the factory upper suspension arm pivots - unless someone can advise definitely that you need aftermarket items.
