Hey guys, recently I have purchased a 1998 Ford Fairlane NL. When i purchased it I was told that it had a faulty diff as a whine could be heard from the rear. although on closer examination (by jacking the rear and idling the car in gear) it appears the whine may be coming from either the drive shaft or the balancer on the gear box end. The drive shaft is the longer aluminum drive shaft used in the longer wheel base vehicles. I replaced the gear box mount with a softer mount and the noise has subsided slightly. Although the noise is definatly still there. I cant think of my next step without starting to buy and replace parts as i go. I was just wondering if anyone else has heard of this happining, if anyone knows what my next step should be, or by the description if anyone had any ideas what this whine is
