there is the bearing adjustment procedure in there, but you still have to knock out the old bearing cups, and knock in the new ones, also pack the bearings with grease and knock the seal in correctly without damaging it.

Nice set of instructions, too bad the diagram doesn't work.
I guess i have to get some tools. I'll get out cheaper that having a mechanic do it... Thanks for the help. I'll head to the store tomorrow. I'll try to make some pictures. If you see a crashed 96 Falcon EL on the news tomorrow then it's clear... |

Where are you? Profile says Adelaide. If that is the case, I can reccomend a mechanic in the Hills that will look after you.

Torque the lock nut to 30NM while spinning the disc to seat the bearing. Then back it off and re-torque to 3NM (finger tight) and slip the split pin through the castellated nut.
Of course make sure that you pack the bearings properly with front wheel bearing grease and lube up the grease seal before installation.

Don't mix shells and races either as the bearing is made as a matching set. If you put the new race into an old bearing shell(the bit you are smashing into the disc assembly), you will destroy the whole bearing in nothing flat. Replace everything that comes in the box, including the moisture seals if they come with them.

Sorry for the delay but I you won`t believe how hard it was to find Timken bearings.
Now that I have all the parts (bearings, torque wrench, Castrol High Temp Grease) I`ll start the installation. Let`s hope that all will go well. I will take some pictures and maybe make a post with the installation. Thanks all. |

They are hard to find because Timken shut down the aussie factory back in 1998.....it was decided that to update the manufacturing process here was too expensive, so now it's a storage facility/warehouse.
