I found the Gregory's repair manual or the Haynes manual very useful.

yeah pet ed is on the mark.
i picked up a pair of spring compressors for $20 from autobarn a couple years back. I've used them quite a few times and they're still working fine.

A couple of tricks:
Unbolt the inner bushes upon the upper control arms. Disconnect the sway bars from the lower control arms. Loosen to inner bush of the lower control arm BUT the bushes must be done up with the car at the correct ride height (otherwise you will stuff the bushes). Once these are done, install the spring compressors and way you go... Allan |

I do pretty much the same - loosening the radius rod bush to the lower control arm helps give a bit more movement as well.
If you weren't intending to, Check out the suspension unit/shock absorber and replace if necessary.

get a mate to use a big solid crow bar to lever the whole lot down.. it'll give you a bit more room to work with

all u should need to do is undo the botom bolt for the strut the undo the top ball joint and then the strut tower bolts and the whole lots should come out strut spring and all, thats how i did it. and then use the spring compressors to compress the spring and undo the top nut on top of the shock and the top plate should come off and the spring will then slide off,
simple, should take 45 mins each side.
