G'day folks,
I need some advice regarding the bushes on Front Upper control arm on the AUII. Sometime ago I had removed the original rubber bush and had them replaced with Blue SuperPro bushes...I applied the black grease to the bush prior to pressing and applied black grease to the bolts. Tightened up to torque, worked well until 4 months ago,,starting to squeak evertime going over bumps as well as entering and exiting vehicle. Those SuperPro bushes were inserted about 9 monhs ago. Had anyone had recurring problems / issues with those Blue SuperPro bushes? I'm going to replace those bushes again shortly..I do a lot of mileage everyday. Should I go back to the original rubber bush or replace with same Blue SuperPro bush? I assume the black grease which comes with the bushes is applied to the outside of the bush to ease fitting? To minimise squeak, what type of grease, if any, should be applied to the bolt and the centre metal ferral? Cheers. |

the grease goes between the crush tube and bush as well as on the ends, you may find they just need to be re greased.....

Thanks for that info, much appreciated. Is there any particular grease I should use. I ran out of that black grease which came with those Blue SuperPro bushes some time ago. Cheers |

would be best to try get some rubber grease or a synthetic non petroleum based grease,

The proper grease for SuperPro bushes was the white stuff....it's now the silicone coloured stuff, and is very thick.
Go to a SuperPro dealer ( Fulcrum Susupension ) and get a small tube of that grease.....it works. I've had SuperPro bushes in my Falcons for over 10 years....no squeaks.....swapped them from the EA to my ED.

I only had small packet of black grease that came with mine, not enough considering the price I paid for those Blue SuperPro bushes back then. From Superexpensive autos. I'll also look into that whitestuff from Fulcrum Suspension. |

Update,
I've replaced the bushes on upper control arm, tightened chassis bolts and upper ball joint pivot bolt to torque. However according to workshop manual , the pivot bolts on upper arm needs to be 50Nm. After bouncing the car on ground , the pivot bolts are then torques to spec 50Nm. I find that to be very difficult to do as there is no way possible to fit a torque bar due to insufficient room. What's the remedy for this, or does one jack the front again and remove the upper control arm (without disturbing the final resting position) and torque the pivot bolt to spec when off the vehicle? Any advice would be appreciated |

How does that work and what does this special extension look like? I tried using a 17mm socket, 1/2" drive and there's no room to put an extension bar onto the bolt. The nut is 16mm and it's facing the spring....ring spanner just gets in there, no way possible for a socket or extension bar to get onto the nut. |

The extension would look like a ring spanner at one end, and would have a 1/2" square hole for the tension wrench to fit into.
Most suspension places don't have anything like that, they would just rattle them up.
