Ok so I was thinking out loud today and I have a question.

Here's the situation, my XT I have needs a new gearbox and torque converter due to the misfortune of the old cross contamination between transmission fluid and coolant. Was going to be looking for a gearbox for it soon.

Recently bought the XR8 which is a 4 speed auto. And I want to do a manual conversion on it... So if I do that can I put the 4 speed auto out of the XR8 into the XT???

What's differer about the gear boxes? Bell housing? Are the internals different?

If it works it saves me having to buy two gearboxes lol

Is the xt a 6cyl, if it is then no its not just a straight swap. The imput shaft is different between the 6 and the 8 and the ext housings are different length. Might be other things but thats what i know of.

Not that i know of mate, you could sell the xr8 one and buy a 6 one haha.

Yeh might have to, would of been good if it would fit though haha
