hey folks

looking at converting my ed v8 fairmont to manual in the next few months

i have an ea wagon 5 speed complete car here but its cpi
what can i use from this
i gather i need to get a v8 belhousing but can i use the peddle box from the wagon?

what else can i use or is most of it useless

please help
what other parts such as cables an what not are different in the manuals from 6 to 8 besides the box and bellhousing

i no i can use a 6 box as i think barnacus did but just get the shaft changed is that is on the box?

you will need the v8 flywheel.clutch assembly,throwout arm,bellhousing and clutch cable.
you will also need to get the gearbox input shaft modified as afaik the v8 input shaft is longer.

unless places like dellow or castlemain rod shop make v8 bellhousings to suit 6 cyl boxes..

Nothing as per factory without modification.

The T5 can be used only if you mod/extend the input shaft.

Apart from that, maybe the crossmember, but you can use your auto one too.

but i seen somewhere last night that i will have problems with the shaft
i thought they would all bolt up the same
an 8 shaft im pretty sure will bolt up 2 a 6 box wont it :lol:


and yes i suppose i could use my crossmember
but do they all mount up the same on the 6 boxes

Am not sure if you can put an 8 shaft in a 6 T5. More knowledgeable individuals will have to answer that one. Finding one would be a challenge in itself. You would also have to source an V8 bellhousing to suit the longer input shaft.

I am pretty sure a V8 crossmembet is the same as a six, as the tail shafts are the same length. I used to have an alloy XR8 tailshaft in my red EB.

that expalins alot
and tells me what i need to no
so shaft will be fine then
and any idea on what a dellow bellhousing aka v8 manual houising is worth
i think castlemaine would be the best bet yea?
